Guitar Doors

Songwriting in Maine Prisons

Are you interested in helping people stuck in prison?  It can be an incredibly rewarding experience.  Our friend Jim Svendsen,  Executive Director of Guitar Doors & Instruments of Change, has an amazing program that helps inmates  to form bands inside prison and record their own songs.  If you’d like to learn more go to: www.guitardoors.org

GuitarDoors.org provides a creative tool for inmates to re-connect with their families and society through music education.

Through small-group, student-centered instruction, Guitar Doors stimulates those incarcerated to think and express themselves in new ways, and teaches the rewards of working together as a community towards a common goal.
